This has got to be one of the most bizarre stops on our travels so far.
A couple homesteaded this land in the 30s and started to blow out a hole in the huge sandstone rock to make their house. They built a 3,000 square foot home in the rock.
It became a roadside cafe and in the 50s during the Uranium rush it became a popular tavern and night spot for all the new miners.
The couple are buried just to the left of this picture, in a hole carved out of the rock, of course.
