In lower Tennessee the rivers were so clear and beautiful.
Another bit of history the Natchez Trace holds is the final resting spot for Meriwether Lewis of Lewis and Clark fame. He had been appointed the Governor of the Missouri Territory which was the newly purchased Louisiana Purchase. He was travelling the Trace on his way to Washington DC and was staying in a small inn along the way. In the morning they found he had been shot and he soon died of his wounds. His manservant was there yet no one knows who shot him, some speculate suicide but other say it was foul play. This memorial is unfinished to signify the unfinished life of an extraordinary man.
We fond a beautiful waterfall
And of course had to dive right in
We visited Nathalie, my Air Force roommate and friend for 20 years. She took us to the Nashville Parthenon built for the Worlds Fair. The outside is an exact replica of the Parthenon in Athens.
Quite a gaudy statue of Athena is inside the Parthenon
We played in the park...
posed for Marilyn...
and had a great time while Nathalie had a day off from school.
