This is the only town I've ever been to that had To Go booths in all of the bars. However no glass allowed only "Cruising Crystal"

Unbeknownst to us we arrived on the weekend of the second largest party next to Mardi Gras. "Southern Decadence" is a gay street party like I have never seen.

Half naked men dancing in the street always draw a good crowd.

Calm down girls, they only have eyes for each other.

Confetti was everywhere.

We had some Hurricanes and Hand Grenades and we were real happy, so happy that we took a taxi home.

We even made it up to the honored balconies and threw beads at the masses below.

Sunset over the Mississippi was gorgeous

This is called a Shotgun house. In the early days (before the government caught on) houses were only taxed on the street frontage. So people built long skinny houses with doors that led from room to room - no hallways. They were nicknamed shotgun because you could shoot a shotgun at the front door all the way through without hitting anything.

In the 1800s New Orleans was the city with the largest number of millionaires and the beautiful houses they built are stunning.

As you know during Mardi Gras beads fly through the air. But if you ever take the beads out of the trees it is the worst of luck and bad spirits will follow you everywhere. Of course we saw beads all along the parade route, the beads can only fall from the trees naturally before they can be removed.

The old city trolly is 100+ years old

We did go back to the French Quarter and had to look for our car
