August 1, 2004

Gee, is it August Already?

It has been a while since I have been able to update all of you on our adventures. Our last few days in Kansas were spent at the Cosmosphere and hiding from the daily thunder and hail storms.

When we left Kansas it was just a whirlwind of events - Allen and Ellen's wedding in Springfield, MO, spreading Mom's ashes in Iowa and then high tailing it up to Traverse City, Michigan (before the snow started falling) and then back down to Texas to get ready for the wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Whew have we been spinning the old odometer.

Michigan was wonderful. Neither of us have ever visited the Great Lakes and it was truly stunning. Lake Michigan looked just like an ocean, with waves and an endless horizon. Our hosts were Rebecca and her great kids, Will and Layne. Rebecca put us up in the old maids quarters, now a real nice apartment, in her historical 100 year old home. Visiting them was a real treat! Will is a very talented musician and music writer (or soon will be) and Layne dances, but she wouldn't let us watch so she must be real good. I'm sure we'll go back to Michigan one day, but not in the winter.

We are leaving for Mexico tomorrow so I thought it would be nice to bring you all up to date before we fly off to another fun adventure.

We have had such a great time this last month, and the funny thing is it seems longer than a month. We are camped right now outside of Fort Worth, Texas and it is as hot as we have ever experienced - yesterday was 110 degrees standing in the sun. I think we did our trip backwards, all our RV buddies are up in Idaho and Montanna right now and sending back pictures of beautiful wildflower fields and snow capped mountains. The only thing cold around here was the slurpy I had for breakfast.

Enjoy the pictures, we had fun taking them. We'll be back in a week and will have some great shots of all the festivities down in Cabo.

Adios Amigos!
